Much like mic or processing choices, you have to go with what feels right. But I think I ended up using it, due to Logic incidentally feeling right for me. I’ve been using Logic regularly since 2001, and I love it. You have to think about it like Indiana Jones- You’ve found some gem that is powerful for you, because you came along some vibe connected path to find it. This is where PT failed.Īnyway- Yah, people know DP, but it’s something you had to be there to know about, or you’re young and have traveled so far in audio engineering rabbit holes, that you somehow end up knowing about Digital Performer. If you’ll notice- you can see that everyone else had some weird artistic connection with creating music and DAW ideology, while PT had a focus on studio recording and fast editing. Back in the day, PT actually was the industry standard, and on the sidelines stood Cubase, Logic, Digital Performer, ACID, FruityLoops. I generally liked it, but it had some showstopping issues and it wasn't good enough for me to hang onto it. Lacking in a lot of QoL features for composition in comparison to DAWs like Cubase Pro and even Studio One. The UI is very configurable, but I'd settle for less configurability if the layout was a bit more polished OOTB. It actually has combined instrument tracks now, as well as ARA2 Support.īut a lot of the plug-ins (and especially the stock instruments) have unusably tiny GUIs - I'm talking 3 point font in the GUI for instruments like MX4 on Windows. Some of the updates have been nice, though. It has the Stalin of Plug-in Validators (Windows). Digital Performer 3.11 update contains installer archive that installs DP 3.11 patch, FreeMIDI Files, MAS update, Update Notes.pdf and REX Shared Library. And it had a lot of issues with VST plug-ins. This is the installer for Digital Performer 10.1. Supported macOS 10.7 - 10.14 Free iLok account and iLok License Manager (iLok. Usability-wise, it just wasn't there for me. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Mac-Intel-only application (Apple silicon not supported). I bought v11, but I actually got a refund for it. and both of those are superior options for Recording/Editing and Mixing, IMO. I actually feel like Pro Tools feels more fluid to use, and even Samplitude Pro X. It's quite capable, but it feels a bit too old school to use.
